If you’ve been taking the #8HourSleepChallenge with us in observance of Sleep Awareness Month, we hope you’ve noticed positive changes in your mood, energy, and overall health.
Join us in aiming for 8 hours every night.
The idea for the 8-Hour Sleep Challenge took shape after we started learning more about the dangers of sleep deprivation, especially in regard to drowsy driving. In 2013, drowsy driving was responsible for 72,000 crashes, 44,000 injuries, and 800 deaths, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Another study from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety analyzed data from the NHTSA and estimated that 7% of all crashes and 16.5% of fatal crashes involved drowsy driving. Keep in mind that these numbers are underestimated and up to 6,000 fatal crashes each year may be caused by drowsy driving.
This number is too high. Too many accidents. Too many injuries. Too many deaths.
In a crusade against drowsy driving, all of us here at T&N have been making 8 hours of sleep every night a priority—and we’re not alone. Below are some of our friends who have been taking the challenge, as well.
Esperanza Scotto aka @theurbandarling
From her blog: “Getting a full 8 hours of sleep helps me to feel my best and gives me the energy that I need to get all my work done for the day and still have time to do things that I enjoy like reading or listening to records. I cannot stress enough how important sleep is, especially for your mental and physical health.” Read the whole post here.
Jess Oakes aka @jessicasoakes
From her blog: “…we have really done our best at getting our 8 hours for the past few weeks and you guys, that mixed with this mattress, I FEEL LIKE A NEW WOMAN.” Read the whole post here.
Juan De La Rosa aka @thedapperjuan
From his Instagram: “For the last couple of weeks I’ve been trying out this amazing mattress from my friends at Tuft & Needle and I’ve been having the most restful night’s sleep. With this mattress is so easy to get the 8 hours of sleep we all should be sleeping.” See the whole post here.
Matthew Coppedge aka @commandmentsofstyle
From his Instagram: “I’ve always had trouble sleeping at night, but trying this mattress has made a world of difference, along with a few other changes.” See the whole post here. Watch Matthew’s 8-Hour Sleep Challenge video here.
